Moritz and Barry are off again, this time on an excursion to Switzerland . Traveling by train, bus, and gondola, Moritz is squashed
into cramped spaces, surrounded and stepped over by hundreds of boots, and confronted by a variety of people and languages. Through
it all he maintains a relaxed, tolerant, and joyful calm, amazing Barry and leading him to ask at the end how Moritz maintains his
cool. The answer lies in the title of the book, A Peaceful Mind, a phrase that can lead to many an interesting conversation between
parent and child.

A Peaceful Mind ~ Travels with Moritz
by Barry Schieber
You have to be a best friend to have a best friend! Through the eyes of these two special Bernese Mountain dogs, children will truly
learn and appreciate the rewards of having a close friendship. In The Tails of Brinkley the Berner: The Beginning, Brinkley and Luca
James share the beginning of their unique relationship. The most defining quality of this book, and something the author and illustrator
went to great lengths to articulate, is that everything about this story is true: the characters, how the two friends met, their physical
expressions, and even the local pet shop they frequent are all captured in the beautiful artwork.

The Tails of Brinkley the Berner by Laura Leah Johnson
Tucker Gets Tuckered by Theodore Waddell
Jules the Lighthouse Dog by P. T. Custard
I am a sucker for Children's books, and The Tails of Brinkley the Berner,The Beginning by Laura Leah Johnson is no exception, I just
love it! It's a story of friendship; and the Berners in it are just like our own dogs, neither is perfect. Perhaps that's one reason
I love the book so much, since I'm not perfect either. But both dogs are perfectly loveable, and I'll be lined up waiting for the
sequel! Thank goodness the author has already promised there will be one.
The artwork for this book is just wonderful. I love the little
devices associated with each dog, the wash of colors, and the expressiveness of the dogs. Some of those puppy looks do a terrific
job of capturing That Look. You know the one I mean. That wistfully sad you want me to do what? sort of look. I hope to see more Berner
books illustrated by Jen-Ann Kirchmeier. ~ Pat Long

"Most of us think that we train dogs, that they always learn what we wish them to know. We spend years training puppies to be dogs
that are easy to live with, or at least we try. But how often do we really see our dogs, and try to understand what it is that we
can learn from them? Barry Schieber's new book about Moritz does just that. With all of the unexpected issues that arise during travel,
Moritz just accepts the crowds and the delays. His ability to enjoy the travel with patience is something that would benefit most
of us."
"A Peaceful Mind: Travels with Moritz is the latest in a series of books that Barry has written about his Berner, Moritz. As
with each of them, he has a different artist who has a more realistic style - but Tracey Dahle Carrier has a sense of whimsy as well.
Several of the illustrations have unexpected details."
"For those of us who collect Children's books, and Berner books in particular,
this is another must have!"

For the Love of a Berner...
This is another fun children’s book, originally written and illustrated by Theodore Waddell. The artwork is wonderfully imprecise
and does more to create a mood than to focus on details. But the details so important to a Berner’s world are there to be found! ~

This delightful children’s book is about a bored Berner in search of a job. We join Jules in his search for a job, only to find it
was right in front of him all the time. As he explores thoughts of all the more typical Berner or dog related jobs, the illustrations
use a squirrel to help add some fun. As with so many children’s books, the fun is in finding many of the details in the drawings which
aren’t immediately apparent. I do hope P.T. Custard does a sequel, or two or three!
Lori Friedli and her 17-month-old Berner siblings, Charly and Nettie, are proud to participate in "Paws a While to Read." The
program has been successful with helping children become better readers! Each child has the opportunity to read to a lovable canine
companion. We don't know who enjoys it more, the children or the dogs! Each dog is shown with a book purchased from The Berner-Garde
Foundation: Jules the Lighthouse Dog and Tucker Gets Tuckered.
Barry Schieber Card Set II ~ Illustrated by Tracey Dahle Carrier. Each set of 12 cards features the same design of Moritz with children!
This would be perfect for teachers, pet therapy, and more! The cards are blank inside so that you can add your own personal message.
